Fieldbrook Solutions, HR Knowledge and Liquid Machines Deliver "Information Protection for Compliance Solution" to Help Businesses Comply with the New Massachusetts Data Privacy Law

Comprehensive, Affordable Solution Enables Small and Medium-Sized Businesses to Meet the Requirements of the Massachusetts OCABR for Protecting Personal Information

ASHLAND, MA - March 18, 2009 - Fieldbrook Solutions, a leader in IT, MIS and security consulting services, today announced that it is teaming with HR Knowledge, New England's leading HR, payroll and benefits business outsourcing company, and Liquid Machines, the provider of the award-winning, enterprise-class data Document Control encryption software, to provide the technical implementation and consulting services for a low-cost solution to small- and medium-sized businesses looking to achieve compliance with encryption and data security regulations mandated by the Massachusetts Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation (OCABR). Fieldbrook’s founder and president, Brad Dinerman, will serve as chief security officer (CSO) for this partnership.
The Massachusetts OCABR (201 CMR 1700) sets the minimum standards required for protecting the personal information of Massachusetts residents and applies to any business, regardless of location, that stores and maintains such personal information which is defined as a person's name combined with social security, driver's license or financial account numbers. The new regulation requires any business that owns, licenses, stores or maintains personal information about a Massachusetts resident to be in full compliance with this regulation on or before March 1, 2010, including implementing a comprehensive, written information security program for personal information.
Benefits of the Information Protection for Compliance Solution
The Information Protection for Compliance Solution includes both data encryption software and services designed to help businesses establish and implement the required information protection policies and processes; and helps them minimize the possibility of costly data breaches.
"Companies have had numerous security regulations imposed upon them over the past few years. This is the first one with clear standards and guidelines, as well as a deadline which will be enforced by the Attorney General," said Dinerman. "Among the key standards mandated by these regulations is the development of security policies, implementation of encryption technology to protect information against unauthorized access and training employees. The Information Protection for Compliance Solution is an affordable, precise approach for SMBs to achieve sustainable regulatory compliance."
"Our first priority is to protect our clients' data from unauthorized access," said Jeffrey Garr, president and CEO of HR Knowledge. "Teaming with Fieldbrook Solutions to provide compliance consulting and implement this encryption solution allows us to offer clients a cost-effective service that satisfies current regulations, while strategically aligning their infrastructure for future OCABR guidelines.
As more states adopt similar statutes, Fieldbrook Solutions and HR Knowledge are positioned to be the de facto information protection compliance provider for the SMB market."
Availability and Pricing
The Information Protection for Compliance Solution, which includes training and policy administration services, along with the Liquid Machines Document Control software, is available as a hosted monthly subscription starting at $125 per user plus a one-time, set-up fee.  As part of the solution, Fieldbrook and HR Knowledge will provide all policy documentation, risk assessment results, training and business process analysis for compliance with data privacy laws.
